Finally getting E's!!!!
Finally getting E's!!!!
I went to the Hermit Crab Patch website a few days ago to order some food & saw their notice that this will be their last year selling live crabs. I drug my husband over to the computer & said "see, it's now or never!". He rolled his eyes, but agreed with me that yes, we'd better order 2 E's since we know they are healthy (even though they are so expensive!). So as of next week, I will finally be in possession of 2 medium Ecuadorians! Later that day as I was checking my crab tank, I discovered that my entire gang was actually up from their molts all at the same time (this NEVER happens). It's as if they had already heard the good news & all wanted to there to welcome their new buddies. Can't wait! Maybe I'll even get motivated to post some pics after they arrive (I have a love/hate relationship with photobucket). lolJust had to share my news with people who will care! Tired of getting strange looks at work.
Finally getting E's!!!!
Congrats! That is so exciting!
Finally getting E's!!!!
Awesome! I hope they have a nice safe trip on their way to your home! E's are so active, you'll love to watch them.
Finally getting E's!!!!
I've had E's since 2010 and still have three out of the original six which is an excellent survival ratio for them because they tend to have such terrible times with molts.Mine were smaller than dime when I got them and now they are nearly double the size of a golf ball they are growing at a faster pace than my PP's but aren't growing as big with each molt as odd as it sounds and they wont get much bigger at full size unfortunately since they are one of the smallest growing species currently known.I love my E's they are so active and are always getting into something as they love to climb and absolutely have to have climbing decor you'll want to make sure you have plenty of climbable objects. They absolutely require constant 24/7 access to salt water so I have a large salt water pool that hold approximately half a gallon of water and is perfect for them to bathe and run around in as its shallow and longer than it is wide.E's love to sit on the bottom of the salt water dish mine did it the first day I had them home from the store and I nearly had a heart attack because two of them were just chilling out at the bottom of the pool looking up at me like hey sup dude.lolI had to restrain myself because I wanted to remove them from the water myself but after standing there watching for about ten minutes they finally crawled out on their own and have enjoyed this activity since then so don't be surprised if yours do this to as its completely normal.lol
Hi I have autism so I tend to answer questions very directly and with little emotion so please don't think I'm being rude.

Finally getting E's!!!!
good for you, they are harder than pps, but more active. although they won't change shells as much.
experience comes from this: Harvey (tarantula), flanders (cat), 2 pp hermit crabs, (marshawn pinch, and richard shermit), smallstress house hamster(hamster), baron purplemoon (fish).

Finally getting E's!!!!
One more day to go - waiting is so hard!!! I talked to Tammy yesterday & she was awesome. She offered me a choice on male/female & said they will be labeled so that we won't have to figure it out on our own. She says that many of the females have eggs right now & warned that their E's tend to be pretty randy!
