I got some things from the lady who gave me my new crabs.
Is this okay to put in the water bowls?

And if this is save what would I do with it??

Idk I'm definitely not an expert, but the packaging makes me giggle since we we all know captive bred crabs are extremely rare....I highly doubt a crab "breeder" would recommend it for substrate. I am also curious about the pretty gravel because I almost got some for my pools but settled for natural looking rocks instead just out of fear of dye or something. Lol

The aquarium gravel should be fine. I have used it before with no ill effects, and generally if things are aquarium safe, they should be crab safe too.

As for the other bedding ... I personally wouldn't use it. But I don't know much about it.

I have used the cypress bedding before just doing little bits for looks. I never had any problems with it, but my crabs never seemed to like it very much.

I am pretty sure! I see people do it all the time, and I was planning on using those if I can find a couple for cheap. Just take the lid off and make sure they have a ramp to get in and out easily Also make sure you have both salt water and fresh water for the little guys.

Critter keepers can be brittle so be cautious when using them as pools. They have a tendency to crack.

The cypress bedding I've read on here can potentially get trapped In the shell and puncture the abdomen of your crab!!!!

Pieces of the wood can get caught in their shells and rip their abdomen. Please do not use cypress bedding. It is BAD for crabs and potentially lethal.

Just here to offer my advice as well... (why not?)
The dyed gravel will need to be tested to ensure that the colours don't leak... or it paint/epoxy is bad and starts flaking. First sign of flaking, don't use. Throw it out or put it in the garden somewhere as a colourful garden bed.
As for the cypresus, i have seen people use it to decorate areas or use it as a second level "mosh pit" (coco fiber, cyperus, leaves ect) and the crabs enjoy it. But I wouldn't use it as the only substrate or as a substrate. Like the above crabber, I've heard the horror stories and IMO its a gamble. It's probably fine, but its worth mentioning that there has been past (bad) experiences documents somewhere on the web (and this site). If youre uncomfortable in using it in the tank, use it as a mulch for your garden.

(If you can't tell, anything my crabbies don't want go straight into my garden )

I'm not too sure about the gravel either. The cypress bedding is something we initially started out with as was recommended by a PetSmart employee (I learned a lot from that experience!) Our hermies never even try to dig into it. About a week later when we got play sand mixed with the coco fibers, they almost immediately dug down to molt.

I have a bag of cypress mixed in with my sand/coco fiber substrate, but it accounts for only about 2%. I mainly added it to entertain the hermies when they are digging.

I might one day go so far to use it as the top half inch of substrate, but below that I'm going to use entirely sand and coco fiber.

I had a fish tank with blue gravel in it and the gravel bled color. My silicone in the tank edges turned blue.
