Looks like 'suds' in water pool

Post by Hermie225 » Wed Jun 29, 2016 8:38 am

Hasn't ever looked like this before and I did water change last night and had the bubblers on and didn't get this sudsy looking effect, anyone know what caused this? Am I worried for nothing?Image

I think it may be, like oily waste stuff from the hermits? When the water gets dirty and they drag stuff in I think it does something to the water that makes the surface tension higher so the air has a little harder time breaking through the surface so it looks more "sudsy"? Don't trust me on that but I think I've read that somewhere. Or maybe I dreamed it.

Clean the dishes out completely with soap and water and make sure to get all the soap out. Thoroughly rinse it. Then dry completely and put new water back in. Does it still occur after that? If so try using bottled water if you are not already.
You've got it all wrong....we are the pets, not them!

Problem solved. Image
The culprit was a river rock my boyfriend put in the dish to help the little guy get out, after I said it wasn't a good idea because I wasn't sure that it had been cleaned Image
But I'm glad I caught it and it was in there for less than 24hrs, hopefully it didn't cause any harm. The bowl has been re-washed and dried and than another rinse in dechlor water before going back in.

My salt water pool always gets a lot of sudsy looking bubbles, I figured it was naturally from the salt?

I was thinking the same thing, when the bubbler first goes on its a bit sudsy looking then goes away. I took it out and thoroughly rinsed and cleaned it 3 times and ended with the same result, so I think maybe I didn't notice it before and it's done it all along and is fine, considering the fresh water pool doesn't do it.
