Can this go in the water bowls
Can this go in the water bowls
Sup I'm trying to think of ways to make the water bowls, and I have that roll up coconut mat you stick on the back of the tank for them to climb and I have left over pieces. Would it be safe to have submerged constantly

No, it will fall apart in your water dishes and make them dirty, as well as wick all the water out of the dishes.

You can use shells or plastic craft mesh as ways for the crabs to climb out; or plastic plants.

I dint have anything to secure them down, is it ok to just let them float/sink freely?soilentgringa wrote:You can use shells or plastic craft mesh as ways for the crabs to climb out; or plastic plants.

I just stick one end of the mesh in the sub, and then I bend it to make a a bridge, and I usually use the shells in my water dish to hold it in place. Some use zip ties to hold the mesh bridge on the water dish. Some have also used 100 percent silicone to attach various climbing apparatuses for the dishes. I personally prefer to not use the silicone because i didn't like scrubbing it. Using a strainer for my shells has been much easier. If you were to use silicone I suggest checking out the DIY sections, they have a good amount of info and ideas. ![Smile :)](./images/smilies/icon_smile.gif)

I used the netting from hermit crab patch. Used some suction cups to attach to the sides of the tank so it hangs down. They love it!
