Aquarium Toys

Post by zyd101 » Sun Oct 30, 2016 8:53 pm

Hello, I used to have fish and was wondering if epoxy resin aquarium toys are safe for my hermies? I would boil them in advance to make sure they are clean. Thank you.

Oh! Also, if I wanted to glue some rocks together to make a climby toy for them, what adhesive would be safe? Thanks for answering either question :)

Don't know about the fish toy but for the rocks I would use aquarium safe silicone. Most on here recommend a brand called dap but you have to let it sit out for a few days to let the fumes dissipate.

Aquarium decorations are safe. Aquarium safe silicone (like NLindsey mentioned) is the adhesive you would want to use, but you air it outside until the smell goes away after it dries, which can take up to a week or two :)

I have used aquarium hides and such with no problems so far. Right now i even have a giant snail shell hideaway two of my crabs love. I boil them then dunk them in treated saltwater. I even got some fake rocks that suction cup to the glass tank with plants on them. The plants ill need to glue in place. they were beta fish toys. I've even taken a plastic hamster house a glued washed rocks to it so my crabs can climb on it.

When i saw it i had to get it! Its so cute. And im thinking about getting another and making a second lvl inside since the crabs try to climb up it. It has a crak at the opening because i dropped it before even putting it in. But i filled the sharp edges smooth. Also in the second photo i know my sub is too low. That was right when id gotten them and had calcium sand in and did a quick change with the play sand i had. Now we are at the lvl we need to be. But still a good photo of the snail shell!

its actually much bigger that it looks! both of my mediums can fit comfortably in it together. my large crab is down but it honestly looked like she could fit in it even with another crab. today they also had a much smaller one so there might even been bigger sizes.

made by:
penn plax, deco-replicas.
