Poop...lol
Poop...lol
So im curious. I know the crabs can eat poop. Well after my boyfriend's new parakeet got out and pooped on my crab tank one of my crabs [Uu [m] ] came out and tried to get it from inside the tank.
I also work for a feed, garden and pet supply. I actually am a manager and in charge of small animal care. Sooo my main question is would it be ok to give me my hermits some of my birds poop or the rabbits from our store?
The only things that cause me worry is the birds/rabbits food does contain preservatives.

Could you look at what kind of preservatives are listed on the feed?
(Though I probably wouldn't worry about it myself.)

Worry as in give it to them anyway or just avoid it? Also i can double check but the bird seed seemed from natural sources but would need to double che5we offer a variety.LadyJinglyJones wrote:Could you look at what kind of preservatives are listed on the feed?

I would just offer the poop. But everyone has different risk thresholds.

I brought home some deer poo that I came across on a wilderness hike. Tried it in the tank and it disappeared in minutes. I know others have fed moose poo and sheep poo. Kind of gross, but it may be something they crave to round out a healthy diet. And I did very cautiously sniff near the deer poo first. All it smelled like was grass. Sort of like dry horse manure. Clearly I have a high threshold for risk.

I would imagine wild poop in a safe area would be great. I just have a free supply from work and my own pets that im curious about hahahaha

I personally wouldn't say yes to either... Bird poop can be so runny - kept numerous bird species before crabbing - that plating that up I would find impossible. If you figure out a way, be sure to share.
Even though you would in the store, for a good proportion of the time, you have no idea what the rabbits are eating.
~~~
In general, when feeding poop try to limit contact time with it - and/or wear gloves when handling - and ensure that you wash the bowl when you clean it out.
No i know 100% what these rabbits are eating. All hermit safe fruits and veggies only cause for worry is the pellets like i mentioned. Also the bird poop dries hard because of the excess in fluids. They have a few perches that need to be scrapped clean and that poop should be easily and simply able to be given without extra mess. If i did i would probably todd anything i used to handle it away after.
