all but one down should I move him
so I checked in on my crabs because I only seen wormsworth out and about and he was (going nuts ) running and digging like I've never seen be for . he is by queenbee all the time except when he molted. well she dug down for the very first time (she haven't gone under at all after I got her)and he's going crazy. and all the others are gone to. temp is 80 humidity is 85. most the time him and queen bee are alone all day playing what looks like tag. and at night every one comes out but not for the last week. and now queen is under. my question is should I move him???? he keeps collapsing the other crabs dens and tunnals and I'm not sure if they are down to molt or destress they have spent a lot of time in the salt water and I had to fill it dayly for a while now not much at all . he is the only one that has went through molting.

Sorry, I can't remember - what size is your tank, what was the depth of sand & how many crebs?
Probs just leave him be...

I would not move him. This is normal behavior for e's. They are very active. Digging & tunneling is normal. As long as you have plenty of substrate (minimum 6 inches or 3 times the depth of your largest crab-whichever is deeper), you will be fine. One crab per 5 gallons. I do recommend getting temperature up. E's like Mid 80's temp.

temp?? weird he seem to like when it's between 78 and 80 it's when he's most active it dose get around 84-86 on the warm side of the tank. the tank they are I'm is 20x20x20 custom made. I use eco earth as a sub they do however have a sand pit to play in. they have both fresh and salt water.GotButterflies wrote:I would not move him. This is normal behavior for e's. Re: all but one down should I move him
Hello!
Okay so if you use the formula for measuring volume (lxwxh) of a cube, your tank that is 20"x20"x20" is 8000 inches cubed in volume. When you convert the cubic inches to gallons, that gives us about 34 US liquid gallons or 28 Imperial gallons.
When it comes to E's, who need very deep substrate and lots of room to dig, this doesn't allow for much space for them in your crabitat. I personally recommend at least 40 gallons and a minimum of 12" of substrate for E's, and that is if you only have E's in your tank.

Re: all but one down should I move him
I also wanted to second the recommendation to make their tanks warmer. E's natural habitats are in the mid 80's to low 90's. This is what they're used to in the wild.
E's are very active. They did a lot and are known for being "tat destroyers". It is really important to provide that deep substrate and lots of climbing items for them.
