PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING For Members and Guests Who Have Crabs They Need to Rehome:

Post by HCA Adoptions » Sun May 21, 2017 1:19 am

Please start a new discussion about your hermit crabs. All topics must start with your city and state.

There are threads in the Local Adopters section that list HCA members by State who are looking to adopt new crabs. Please consider going through these postings to see if there is someone close to you who is looking to adopt and contact them directly. Not everyone is able to check this forum for new posts on a regular basis and you may be able to find a new home quicker this way. You can find this page here: https://www.hermitcrabassociation.com/p ... .php?f=113

Also, consider making a status on our Facebook Page to reach out to fellow crabbers. You can find our page here: https://www.facebook.com/HermitCrabAssociation/

Below is a template that you are welcome to use when posting your crabs for adoptions, but it is only a suggestion and you do not have to use it. It does cover the most common questions asked about crabs needing a new home. It will also help to give information about how long you've had the crabs, how you have them set up, and any names that you may have given them. You are encouraged to ask questions of potential new owners and you can set any requirement you like to make sure that you feel comfortable in rehoming your pets. To help in finding the perfect new home, you're welcome to share anything you'd like about your crabs, including their background, stories about their behavior, information about any special crabs you may have, photos, and why you need to find them a new home.

PERSONAL INFORMATION:
Do not post your phone number or your home address! To keep your e-mail safe from software that scans websites it would be best to list your e-mail address using [at] instead of @ and [dot] instead of a period. The other option is to post your e-mail address only in your profile and marking it so that people can contact you via e-mail. This will place a button on your post that will hide your e-mail from the software.

Postings will be kept for a minimum of 60 days. After that time they are scheduled for deletion. If after 60 days you still haven't found someone to adopt please either create a new topic, or respond to your original topic to "bump" it to the top of the list so that it doesn't get removed. Once your crabs have found a home we ask that you reply to your topic to reflect this so that it can be removed. This will keep you from being contacted by more people looking to adopt.

At the HCA, we want every crab to find a loving home. We also want our members to be safe. For the safety of our members, we recommend that all HCA adoptions meet the following guidelines:

1. Anyone under the age of 18 should arrange adoptions only when a parent or guardian can go with you. DON'T give out personal information (address, phone number, etc) to arrange an adoption; DO bring a parent or guardian to exchange crabs in person.

2. For all exchanges of crabs between members: DO meet in a busy public place. Shipping crabs is only advised during moderate weather and temperatures. It is never advised to go to someone's home to pick up or drop off crabs.

3. Please use common sense and be safe!
Please PM the HCA Adoptions account if you are interested in a listed adoption or have questions about our adoption program.
