Hey everyone. I was given 3 new hermit crabs by a friend of mine who did not know the proper care of them, and did not have time for them. 2 of them were in shells way too small and 1 was in a painted shell. The 2 in small shells have changed, but the painted guy won't. Is it because I don't have any shells he likes? Does he just not want to leave his shell? What should I do? I don't want the paint to hurt any of them. Please help!

Re: Painted Shell Won't Change Shells?
Crabs can be stubborn about changing shells. All you can do is wait... have you seen the preferred shells sticky? At the top of the shells subforum there is a great article about kinds of shells preferred by diferrdnt species. Making sure you have the best optionns might be helpful.
Though you may also just have a stubborn crabboo.
Try not to worry too much - if paint flakes off try to clean it up.

Thank you! Yes he is a purple pincher and I have lots of turbo shells, as well as a few different just in case. I guess we're just playing the waiting game.
