Millipedes!
Just wanted to share some pictures of some millipedes I got sent for free.
These are called bumblebee millipedes!
Aaand here are some pill millipedes. There are larger, more colorful species from overseas but these guys are native to the United States! They look like isopods but they are actually millipedes.

Re: Millipedes!
Nice shots! I also have milipedes.
Curious, what type of container do you keep em in? Any pics?

Re: Millipedes!
I can get some pictures this weekend! The bumblebees (I was sent 6) are in a 16 quart tub with a good 2 through 4 inches of substrate and ventilation holes on the sides. The pill millipedes are in a 6 quart tub since they're so tiny, I believe I was sent 3 or 4. They also have ventilation holes on the sides.aussieJJDude wrote: ↑Thu Apr 11, 2019 8:44 amNice shots! Re: Millipedes!
I have a tank of bumblebees, too. A few adults were in the plants I bought for the rehab chameleon, and they bred and now I have a decent colony! They like rotted wood and hardwood leaves for meals, I haven't gotten them to touch anything else.
The pill milis are neat. I did not realize there were species native to the US!

Re: Millipedes!
Thank you! I just really love invertebrates. There's so many out there and seeing other people being able to appreciate them makes me happy!
Ooh... good thing I mixed some chunks of rotting wood and live oak leaves into their substrate. Weird how they showed up in the plants!wodesorel wrote: ↑Thu Apr 11, 2019 10:22 amI have a tank of bumblebees, too. I didn't either until the person who sent me them asked if I'd be interested! They're of the genus Onomeris.

Re: Millipedes!
Does anyone have red/black millipedes? I have found some of them out in the woods before, under logs and such.

Re: Millipedes!
Where are you from? Possible species depends on location. Just saying a state or province would be sufficient.scuttlecrusty22 wrote: ↑Thu May 09, 2019 12:37 pmDoes anyone have red/black millipedes? I have found some of them out in the woods before, under logs and such.
