Is 45 shells enough shells?
Is 45 shells enough shells?
I only have two crabs in a 20 Gallon tank. Is 45 shells enough shells for both crabs? I’m thinking 5 per crab. They’re a mixture of Apple murex (a very popular shell with my crabs at the moment), magpies, turbos (NOT a popular shell with my crabs), fox shells, whale eyes and bursa.

Uh, yeah. I think you have enough shells! Lol! I'm assuming they are various sizes because you have quite the selection! You could easily get away with 15-20! Spoiled crabbies! Fox shells are not popular with our crabs, but the turbos get taken right away.

Xeno, with my crabs, turbos are just the opposite! They won’t wear turbos but Apple murex shells get taken right away.

I find it amazing how all crabs are so different in every way! I think it is safe to say that you have plenty of shells! They should not fight over them! Most of my crabs came in apple murex shells but I never offered them any since they changed out. Makes me want to put some in and see what happens!
