Quick bird seed question

Post by GRMU99 » Fri Apr 17, 2020 1:11 pm

I was wondering if it is ok to feed bird seed to crabs?? My mom has a couple of outside bird feeders that she’ll put bird seed in for the birds. I dont know what kind of seeds she has.

Bird seed should be fine. Most mixes are made of sunflower seeds, millet, or miscellaneous grain products.

I recently fed my crabs birdseed and ended up with some grasses growing when they flipped the dish over. They seem to like the growth more than the seeds.

Seed mixes are well received by my crabs.

Some seed mixes have brightly dyed colored blue, green, yellow and red pieces of grain or wafers. I would avoid them, or at least pick those out before offering to crabs just to be safe.
