Hey everyone!
I am looking to buy some kind of lighting for my crabs. The room they live in stays pretty dim, and two sides of my tank are covered in insulation over my UTHs, so I'm concerned they aren't getting the right light cycle.
I'm looking for something that sits outside of the tank and does NOT produce heat. I need it to be a substitute for the lack of true sunlight. I've never worked with crabitat lighting before, so any and all advice is appreciated!

Re: Lighting suggestions
What size tank do you have?
Before I moved, I couldn't find my strip light to my 20 gal L (I had used it as a fish aquarium previously, which is why I had the strip light). So I bought a desk lamp that I clamped on the shelf that was holding the tank and it worked great. It has 3 different light settings, a dimmer, and also a 3/6/12 hour timer. The one I bought is no longer available on Amazon, but I'm sure they have something similar on there.

If your tank is bigger, like 50 gals and up, it may not be bright enough to light up the whole tank, which is why I was wondering how big your tank is.
Since I moved, I found my strip light for the 20 gal, and just use that instead. So you could always go with a light strip if you want.

I have a 10-gallon, working on a 5-gallon topper for some extra room. I really like your clamp-style light, especially having the timer function different light settings. Do you have it ray down from above, or coming in from a side?

Re: Lighting suggestions
With a 10 gal, that type of light would work well. I used to have it shining on the side. I usually used the blue led type light setting. It was bright enough to create a day night cycle, but not crazy bright. I loved the timer on it too.MauiMama wrote:I have a 10-gallon, working on a 5-gallon topper for some extra room.
