After 3 months of being in the sand, and a 2 month wait, crabbie goes back down

Post by HermieBingo » Tue Apr 20, 2021 6:32 pm

My crab, Charolette, was in the sand for 3 months, I am VERY sure molting, since her exoskeleton, when she came back up, was fresh and a beautiful salmon-ish color. She stayed up for 2 months, then went back down 3 days ago. She may be going to find Bingo, my other crab that has been in the sand for 5 months. She could be going down just to dig around, but I'm just confused. :? I give them good conditions (according to the HCA care sheets), so I guess I just wait it out. I am NEVER going to dig either of them up. I just wanted to put it on the forum just in case any of you had experience with this that you wanted to share. Much appreciated!
My only crabbie Charolette :)

A small crab will molt a few times a year, so she could be going to molt again, or just digging for fun. If you have enough sub and your tank isn't over crowded, it is unlikely she will come across your other crab while she is down there.
