Was browsing around today, came across a post about substrate. It said that if you stick your finger into the substrate and it holds its shape it's good.
Well, I checked, and it collapsed on me (5/1 ratio of play sand/ EE.) I was thinking just about so, put the tank together a few weeks ago.
Luckily I have no crabs down so I'll have to rip it all apart and add some water. Dang it! Should have added more when it was easier to do so.

Re: Substrate mistake
Just add some along the sides, like half to one cup a day. It will seep into the rest of the sub over time.

Did you use dcfw or dcsw? I personally have more luck with SW.
