Hello, it's Motley! I used to be a hermit crab owner (I had a tank of ecuadorians as well as 3 purple pinchers). Years ago I got out of the hobby for a few different reasons (mostly just hectic life stuff). For the past couple of months, I've been catching up on new research and setting up a new tank. I'm very particular with my crabs so it took some time. But yesterday, I took a day trip to New York to pick up some purple pincher hermit crabs from the wonderful JTKermie here on HCA. The crabs that I got from JTK were in fantastic condition, very social, seemed very comfortable being handled, had nice colors, and were all in big beautiful natural shells. In addition to the crabs, JTK was kind enough to give me his old tank, a lot of supplies and accessories, some very high quality hermit crab food from an online retailer that packages fresh natural ingredients with a ton of variety made specifically for land hermit crabs. I was also gifted some absolutely beautiful shells. With that being said, I wanna introduce our new crabs (although they aren't new to this forum).
This guy is Professor Pinchy
This is Debauchery (Deb for short)
And this is Cake
For now they're in a 20 gallon but I'm working on setting up their 30 gallon.
ps. thanks to everyone on here who gave me advice while I was setting up my tank, I really appreciate it
