Is my hermit crab dead
Hello, we purchased a hermit crab at the shore June 2023. He has been doing well up until June of this year. He ended up shedding his exoskeleton above ground. He did munch on it a little bit, he did get some water and his coloring turned from bright pink and red to black and ashy white or gray. Since he munched on his exoskeleton, he has not moved at all since shedding. We are almost going on 6 months now with no movement, no change of shell etc. He is not eating or drinking. He does not smell but he looks very dried out. Is he likely dead? I wasn't sure if maybe he dried up and died.

Unfortunately, if there has been absolutely no movement, he has probably passed away.
If you pick him up, does he stay in the shell or fall out?
If he hadn't molted in a year since you got him, that is concerning. Do you have other crabs as well?
