Betta fish decor
I was thinking about getting a betta fish to put in my extra ten gallon tank, and thought about shells and plants, hideouts from my hermit crab tank to go in there, does anyone have anything that they think may be a problem for the (hopefully) future fishy.

Re: Betta fish decor
Shells can raise the kH and gH, which in turn could buffer the waters pH. Bettas have long been domesticated from the acidic conditions where they originate from, and can handle a wide range of water parameters, but generally fair a lot better in soft, acidic conditions.
As for plants, plastic plants can snag on the long fins of male bettas, so many hobbyists would recommend against them. Generally silk and live plants are preferred, especially for newer hobbyists.
Best bet would be to join a fish or betta specific group, which can be found anywhere. Often they have some rather hard and fast rules, but can greatly help establish a newer fish hobbyist until they feel a little more confident.
