Hermies Burying Time

Post by myhermiesnoopy » Thu Dec 26, 2024 3:19 pm

Hello there! Today I finally got my first 2 hermies. I'm not sure if they are Strawberry or Purple Pinchers. One is fairly large and the other is medium sized. After I placed them in the tank the smaller one just began to bury within minutes. The other larger one soaked in the saltwater bath for a while when buried itself completely too. I picked them up from Petco where the substrate was around 2 inches and was not deep enough. I'm here to ask how long would they be buried for? I am a bit concerned while I do know this is normal I'm just a bit worried. Neither had eaten, drank or anything. Does anybody know how long they could be in the substrate for? (also if anyone is interested in adding some name suggestions i'd love some)
Thank you for the help!

You’re most likely looking at anywhere from a couple weeks to a month. Hermit crabs need solitude to recover from molting and larger crabs tend to take longer than smaller ones
