Hello, we've been raising a pair of hermit crabs for a few years.
Recently, one passed away. We believe he had trouble molting.
We aren't sure what to do now. Do we buy another tankmate or leave him as is? The one left behind is active and healthy. We replaced everything in the tank and looked for signs of illness but he seems fine. He's always been social with humans, it's sweet.
We are considering giving him away because we don't have the heart to raise a new one. We do love him.
Any advice?
Lonely crab :(

The longest living crabs in captivity have often been raised either alone or in pairs. It’s honestly personal preference on where you want to go from here, your crab will do fine regardless
