He's molting

Post by Guest » Wed Jan 16, 2008 11:34 am

Well just thought I would share, it seems my little Kemp is down molting. i couldn't resist peeling back the UTH from the side last night and looking and he's in a little hole just below the surface next to the UTH... and Misu my largest will not move. I caught him leaving the area last night to get a sip of water and some food... and get this. He brought the food... a piece of banana covered in oyster shell back to his little spot and wont let any other crabs over there. My poor little girl got shoved last night.

Is this normal for a crab to be so protective over another guy molting?

Well... I've nevr had any crab be protective over another at anytime at all, much less molting time. Maybe, your crabs are just really good friends? :|

You should see my new largest and smallest. The big guy pushes the others when they get close but he's petrified of the little girl... I don't see why though, she curls up when she feels air move.
