Can they drowned if there is a container of water in there crabitat in stead of a sponge.

No, they cannot drown unless they are not able to get out of the water dish. Sponges are not needed. In fact, sponges hold a lot of bacteria and can actually be harmful.

A water dish that the crabs can wade in and can get out of is suitable. Don't forget that you need two types of water: dechlorinated freshwater and dechlorinated saltwater. Saltwater can be made by using a marine aquarium salt like Instant Ocean or Oceanic Brand. ZooMed or any other Hermit Crab Salt will not work.
