shell shop and purple castle addition to tank :D

I bought my hermits a purple castle so that they would have another place to hide in, because one of my medium crabbies keeps taking over the blue tiki hut. my smallest crab Squall was sitting inside of it, when Axel decided he was going to, and just pushed poor little squall right out of the tiki hut =O
i bought the purple castle, and hot glued hemp on it to make it easier to climb on
then i "borrowed" a tupperware dish/container from the kithchen, used an exacto knife to punch holes in it, and used hemp to tie it to suction cups. i also hotglued hemp on the outside and inside of it, to make it easier for them to get in and out. i put sand in there, a few shells, and a plastic plant. i had some pieces of another plastic plant my newest crab had picked apart, so i glued those around the bottom as well. ^^





i have a 10 gallon tank, and my mom says i have it too crowded -.-
but i wanted to make sure that they had enough hiding places and stuff to climb on

i added another big suction cup on the one side to make it straighter than it is in the picture =)

it's a plastic flower pot with part of the side cut out, i glued thick hemp all over so that they could climb on it ^^
i have two small hermits, and two medium ones, so i wanted at least one big house for the two mediums, but the bigger one likes to sit in the small blue tikihut anyway sometimes -.-
he fills up the whole thing pretty much XD

i told my mom they have housing options now,
a beach house,
a mansion,
a castle,
and a tree house lol XD

i made them another smaller house to free up a little space, and now instead of a mansion, they have a shell shack




i made it using a sour cream container, and i hotglued small shells, rocks, and broken pieces of larger shells on it ^^

Yep, hot glue is safe! Some people have problems with it staying in place though because of the heat and humidity of the tank.

I got it at this family owned mini petstore that's on the indoor part of a flea market that i go to =)
It wasn't near the hermit stuff though, it was over by the hamster supplies ^^

I have had a couple issues with the hotglue staying due to humidity, but not too bad, it stays for the most part. =)

I had hot glue holding up the net thats the back ground climbing thing on my tank. The net is glued to the black plastic at the top and holds fine. But I've tried using it on the glass and it holds at first but very quickly comes unstuck from the glass. It probably depends on the surface you are using it on.
