Re: Land or Marine crab?
I got some nerite snails in the mail and one turned out to be a crab. I don’t know if hes a marine crab or a land crab. He has dark red legs which made me think he was a land crab but when I put him next to water he crawled in and has be in it over an hour. He’s the size of a large pee so it’s hard...

Re: Accidentally uncovered a molting crab
covered the outsides with substrate. (Then I started messaging other hermit crab enthusiasts about what to do Oh yeah no that will block his air sadly. Also, one thing I had to teach myself my first year or two of crabbing is to temper this instinct to "react and then ask" NOT a dig at you genuinel...

Re: Accidentally uncovered a molting crab
I happened to do that because I was worried because I ruined his little cave that the others would find him easier and try eating his Exo or him! So I very carefully took him out and his Exo and put them into a separate plastic tank I had on hand, I put some substrate in there and soaked some Sphag...

Re: Crab in turbo shell the wrong way
How has he been with shells before? His abdomen may be on a different side as most crabs so he might just be looking for the righ shell shape. That's just an idea of course, I dont have the context to know for sure

Re: Inactive hermie?
Hi! Saw your other thread, glad shelli is back to digging back under a bit:) As for activity, I would recommend raising your temp a bit. I find my crabs are most comfortable and active at around 78+ degrees and I generally try to get 80+. Did you get a digital thermometer yet or is the 74 degrees fr...

Re: New concerned owner
I have already purchased the eco earth and calcified sand. Hi! Unfortunatelu, calcium sand is a no-go. You can either use just the eco earth is you have enough or for a cheaper option if you need more, you can add some playsand! Any suggestions for a source for healthy hermit crabs that are availab...

Re: Tank smells weird
Could it possibly have been some food they ended up dragging off and burying? Is everyone accounted for in the tank?

Australian Land Hermit Troubleshooting
Posting on behalf of someone else: I had an australian land hermit crab recently pass due to some type of bacterial disease ( likely black spots/shell rot ) and this isn't the first time it's happened, it's also happened to a friend. It can vary to just the crab being active but then dropping dead t...

Interesting, thank youwodesorel wrote: ↑Mon Oct 02, 2023 11:33 amBeetle jelly is entirely plant based using agar, and offers complete nutrition for certain species of beetles that are kept as pets. Cricket quencher is plastic polymers that absorb fluid (same stuff in baby diapers), sometimes with vitamins or minerals added.

https://www.coupang.com/vp/products/7299515582?vendorItemId=85810364345 The entire page is in korean though. The manufacturer doesn't seem to be the best source for hermit crab care but the product itself seems safe. It can't just be safe, it also needs to have all necessary minerals unfortunately....

Re: Mineral Sea Salt Jelly
I highly doubt it would be as effective as marine salt, do you have a link to the product itself? On the off chance its ok and im jumping to conclusions
