Re: water question

So I started using instant ocean, and noticed that the pools are evaporating very fast. I've checked to make sure there were no leaks in the pools, but I have to refill the salt water pool daily. Is this normal?

Re: Hermit Crab Missing Claw (Not Molting)

Tamatoa did not make it. The other crabs are doing well, and they are in their new home. I have posted more details in my post regarding their new setup, http://hermitcrabassociation.com/phpBB/viewtopic.php?t=119108 They have new water dishes that they can fully submerge in, using Prime and Instant ...

Re: New Crabber with a few setup questions

Just a quick update on the crabs. I purchased the 30"x12"x13" terrarium, and they have been moved over. Since we didn't have clear lid, I used plastic wrap on the mesh lid to help keep humidity in. In order to maintain the humidity at 80%, the fogger is still having to be used. I am checking the sub...

Re: Hermit Crab Missing Claw (Not Molting)

I will look into the dechlorinator and treatment products you mentioned and see what I can find locally, if not i'll have to hunt on Amazon. The distilled water will still be used, but only for their fogger, not for their pools. Hard water / tap water will cause problems for the fogger. So this is j...

Hermit Crab Missing Claw (Not Molting)

For about a week, Tamatoa, our newest PP, has been unmoving in the corner of the habitat between the coconut hut, and some fiber used as a climbing ladder. It's a dark, cooler part of the terrarium. Since he was hunkered down, I figured he was destressing, and did not want to bother him. For the las...

Re: New Crabber with a few setup questions

Hi! Welcome! What size would you say the crabs are? Honestly, I would say the bigger the tank the better. Check for deals on craigslist, OfferUp, Letgo. The crabs will grow and you may also want to get more. They're addicting. I know many people use foggers but you have to be careful. They can crea...

Re: New Crabber with a few setup questions

https://i.imgur.com/wEy7Aek.jpg This is the temporary crabitat that i'm looking to move the PPs out of. It is rather cramped, but they have not been in it for long. It's just finding a good sized tank that is the problem. Here's a few picks of Bob. He is the most active, both day and night. He like...

Re: New Crabber with a few setup questions

Right now, Bob, our biggest, can fit comfortably in my palm. I'd say he would be categorized as "medium". Shell openings are roughly an inch, slightly larger, and he fits comfortably in his turbo. I can see about attaching pictures later. Right now they just have wading bowls. There isn't enough roo...

New Crabber with a few setup questions

Hello everyone, I've had my hermit crabs for a few months, and we have had one new addition to the family, but a tank had a crack after a mishap and had to be replaced in a rush. Currently the crabs are in the Zilla Vertical Tropical Kit, 12x12x18. The door to the tank is just over 6 inches from the...
