I agree with Annopia. Turning your hand the other way (palm side up) and having your hand stretched completely open is a way to almost guarantee you won't get pinched (which rarely happens anyway!).

My crabs love raisins and the newest addition----silversides. I have to admit, I was kind of grossed out and feeling bad about giving them the silversides (they are frozen, I thaw them), but I generally put them in the tank, and within about 10 minutes can't find them because the crabs drag them off...

I just love Straws. I know they are a little harder to take care of, but I think they have wonderful personalities.
I haven't had any problems mixing my guys together. I have teeny crabs in with small, medium and even a large/jumbo guy. Everyone gets together really well, and quite honestly, the teenies kind of rule the roost!
