Seven up! Good window for deep clean?
First--wow, I've missed you all! I've been popping in every now and then but life has been, you know, life... Last night I saw all seven crabs up! This has happened twice since Christmas, so it's rare but not impossible! In a couple of weeks Hermitree Haven, our 65g crabitat, will be a year old. It'...

Re: I think that I have finally named my crab room!
LOVE! The room and the name! (But then I'm a Firefly fan! ) What's the play on the word? We named our crabitat, but that is a far cry from a whole room!

Re: newbie here with feeding questions
Hi caelynng, congrats and kudos to you for getting all your ducks in a row before bringing home your new crabs! I don't have experience with that exact food brand, but it looks pretty good. When I first started I bought a variety pack of individual foods, then started collecting/freezing/drying scra...

Re: Food recommendation while on Vacation
I had one come up while I was on vacation once. In addition to GotButterflies suggestions, I left powdered versions of good post-molt foods: powdered peanut butter, granulated honey (got at my tea shop), and lots of crushed cuttlebone. My guys practically inhale crushed cuttlebone when they come up ...

Re: Help! Sugar ants?!
Love it!!! And the stand! It's funny how I used to think this tank size was enormous, but since I got my 65 a little voice is whispering ""c'mon, it's ONLY 12 inches longer, you have room..."![emoji1]

Re: Crab on the hamster wheel
I'm thinking about a wheel. What happens when a crab climbs on the outside of it, though? Mine like to climb on the outside of our hanging coconut but never go inside. I could see them climbing on the outside of a wheel and falling off! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk You hang the silent spinner...

Re: Help! Sugar ants?!
Sounds like you have a handle on it. Do look for the point of entry to the house. Whenever I find ants the hubs makes me wait until he gets home so we can follow the trail and take care of it at the source! We have recurring issues with tiny red ants around our back doors (so many dead at first I th...

Re: New climbing net
I read somewhere in the forum that you could throw it in the washing machine, so I did! After putting it in a mesh laundry bag so it wouldn't tangle around the drum, and of course without soap. I think I did a hot cycle. Can't remember if I also did a saltwater soak, but I only air dry nets (bake al...

Re: Aussie Breeding Success Dec 2016/Jan2017
I just tried to upload 3 different videos and got server error each time. Are there issues at the moment? I don't know the answer to this, but whatever the problem is, it's retroactive. All of the videos going back to the beginning of this thread say "video does not exist", and we all know they wer...
Re: Treats?
Ditto, I do the same as Rawrgeous (trim off peels, skins, rinds and feed the inner parts). If I spend money on organic it's for my family, but I save all the scraps and either freeze or dehydrate them. For instance I buy organic strawberries (they're on the worst list for pesticides and you can't pe...
