Re: Questions About Feeding
Hello! Glad to hear that you're interested in switching out that commercial food. My biggest suggestion for safe ready-to-eat mixes come from a lot of the places listed on the Shopping Resources page (I'll put the link at the end of my post for convenience). You can also go on Etsy and just search "...

Are there any safe things that make your house smell nice?
Hello, My bf often goes into other people's homes as part of his job and remarked how he loved that this latest client's house smelled so nice. He noticed that they were using those Glade Plug-In things, which I've read previously on here are a no-no. But, is there ANYTHING that I could buy that wou...

I have that log in the middle of the first photo for my bearded dragon!
Your tank looks amazing though. Great job decorating.

Re: Food suggestions
Mine love nuts! I've tried walnuts, pecans, almonds, and peanuts and all have been a hit. Chia seeds are similarly popular but I haven't had luck with pumpkin or sunflower seeds with the shells still on. I get the nuts from places like Whole Foods or Sprouts, where you can get raw unsalted ones in t...

Re: Where to shop in/near Palm Springs, Cali
Here's what I know: Palm Springs is in the middle of nowhere in the desert and is an affluent resort town. They do have a Petco so you could find a heater there, although they will likely (95% sure) be the insulated Zoomed or similar kind. Neither Petco or Petsmart sell the uninsulated ultratherm ty...

Re: I think my sub is too dry but there are crabs down
Thank you for your replies! It is a sand/ee mix. When I originally put it in, it was 5:1 and mixed in together but, a little more than a month ago, I added a brick of ee to the top to help with humidity. This was about the time that I had to start using the heaters and, before that, I never had issu...

I think my sub is too dry but there are crabs down
Hello, I was changing out the crab's water and realized that the substrate isn't sandcastle consistency anymore. I dug down a couple inches in one place but I didn't want to run into a crab, so I don't know exactly how bad the problem is. It's at least those first few inches. I mist 1-3x a day to ke...

Re: Overcrowded?
I'm so glad that I don't have to figure out new living situations for anyone. I will make it VERY clear to my family that it's not okay for the future though. Thanks guys.

Overcrowded?
Hello, Happy Holidays! Some well-meaning relatives got me more crabs for Christmas... Which, I'm sure you can understand is conflicting because yay crabs! But boo for not asking. I'm worried about overcrowding now. To remind everyone, I have a 75 gallon tank with a 40 gallon breeder as a topper. And...

Re: I moved my tank... *And now I've cracked the glass top
I'm happy to report that the second heater gets the tank to 85 during the day and doesn't let it drop below 77 at night. I'm sure all the crabs, but especially the exotics, appreciate it. My E has been cruising around, checking out all the shells. It's funny that he even checks out the jumbo shells....

Re: I moved my tank... *And now I've cracked the glass top
Yeah, it's insulated! I put the heater up at night and, the next morning, went out and bought the Reflectix when I realized that the tank was only 66-68. It took it a day and a half or so to raise up to 81. When I wake up, it's usually around 75 but the gauge says it dips to 70-73 at night. Then it ...

Re: I moved my tank... *And now I've cracked the glass top
I'll probably get another one then. I think it's because my house fluctuates so much but I'm not entirely sure. I mean, I live in the desert so it's dropping to 40-50 at night outside but is still high 70s during the day. My house can drop into the high 50s-low 60s at night and gets into the 70s dur...

Re: I moved my tank... *And now I've cracked the glass top
Would you guys say it's okay that it fluctuates from a high of 81 during the day to a low of 73 at night or should I get another heater?

Re: I moved my tank... *And now I've cracked the glass top
Lol! I didn't think I could do it but thought I'd try before asking the bf for help. I had to lean into it a bit but it's on a wooden stand on tile, so it easily slid after a certain point.

Re: My E's shell modification
I kept reading when E's came up about how shell stubborn they are, so I definitely continue to be surprised by my E. He switched out of his painted shell within a couple weeks and now this. I hope yours changes soon though!
