Re: Adding Isopods to Main Tank

Lmbo I am always paranoid about everything. I saw her today eating from a carrot and does not have a yellow underbelly full of babies anymore. The thing I am paranoid now is about if she was never pregnant because I don’t see any isopod babies (mankai or however you spell it) Edit: Oops, I meant pa...

Re: How much substrate?

Quickrete has multiple types of sands and some have cystalline silica, so just make sure the bag doesn't have a warning for it. I'm pretty sure the playsand ones are free of it, but I just wanted to put that out there. I have a 50g tote and 3 bags of sand and 3 bags of EE gave me about 7 inches of s...

Thanks for the reminder. Its been days since I saw the one Isopod. I am probably paranormal, but I would think that I would see her again by now.
Oh really now?

Re: Built in 5 gallon Marine tank...How to cycle?

The smaller you go the easier it will be to crash your tank. Like stated, research nano aquariums. But they are hard to maintain, especially that small. That's why bigger aquariums work better, they're harder to crash once they've stabilized. And it can take weeks, sometimes months to stabilize a ta...

Re: condensation

The only possible bad things from a lot of condensation is the possibility of tank flooding or a bacterial bloom. But we'd need to know your humidity number. Like stated, your crab could have just been in a water dish.

Re: Crab looks dead, out of shell

They need more calcium in their diet, they devour their molts to help replenish that. Could be possible the attack occured for that. Also, each crab should have 3-5 shells...if you have two that means 6-10 shells. It would help to answer all the questions for emergencies so we can see what your set ...

Re: Newbie-ish. [emoji23]

I hear people have flooding issues with EE only, like stated above it dries fast at the top but stays soaked at the bottom. Sand helps with that. And EE helps said retain even moisture. The sponges were originally meant to help raise humidity. I'm guessing people didn't understand why they were used...

Welcome to the crab world!

29g sounds good, as long as you get your 6+ inches of substrate you'll be fine.

Re: Heat/humidity..

The heat pad will be a fine temporary thing til your UTH gets there. Keep it on low, monitor it, lean it against the glass but don't trap it against a wall or anything (let it "breath" so to speak) and monitor the heat. It can be a fire hazard, but that's pretty rare. Does it have different heat set...

Re: Springtails

Lots of people keep them in their crabitat, seems they're pretty easy to keep in crabitats whose heat and humidity are kept in a good crab range (75~85 heat, 80+% humidity). I don't see why MSW would bother them, seems fine. If it's safe substrate for crabs it's good for springtails. Seems like most...

Re: Crabitat stand

If you're buying something premade it should have the weight specs on it.

Aquarium stands in particular are good at holding weight because they're designed to hold the water weight.

Re: I wanted 4... I got 6. XD

Roots actually help hold tunnels better. Give it more structure. Your crabs are more likely to destroy the plants though. I'm actually going to try a chia farm in my tank, I heard the lack of success stems from naughty crabs though.

You should post in the adoption center with all the required info so people know if they're in your area or not.

I'm definitely NOT a professional or anything[emoji23] especially about totes, but have you considered using electric tape to stick the heating pad?
