We have eggs!

This area is dedicated to the pioneers who have captive bred crabs, and for those who wish to learn more or attempt it themselves. Also for inquiring about the gender of your crabs.

My kreisel tank is all set. One of the smaller tanks has freshly hatched baby brine shrimp swimming around now just waiting to be eaten. I also put a few brine shrimp eggs in the big saltwater pool in the tat, just in case. They'll take a few days still to hatch but it may make the pool seem more "alive" and any babies will have food source right away. I switched out my sw pool to be a little shallower, with easy access for Garbo (my gravid female) using a ramp of shells and sand. I upped the temp in the tat to about 84 because I noticed the gravid female was hanging out in the warmest areas of the tank. Tomorrow is the new moon. Hoping that brings us babies! I think the nursery is ready.

Oh, and the other female (I'm pretty sure) no longer has eggs. :( I think she must have dropped or eaten them or something. My tank has a TON of isopods, too, so they may have gotten to them. But Garbo is still acting sluggish and checking out the saltwater pool so I'm hopeful.

I'm having trouble figuring out how to post a picture. Can I upload directly from my device? I have a shot of my improvised kreisel setup that might be useful. Also a shot of the hatched brine shrimp. Hubby ordered me a macro lens for my iPhone, so hopefully if I get babies I can share some good shots. The ones others have posted have been invaluable to me as I've been researching this. :)

Excellent. Tapatalk is now downloaded. Thanks for the help. ..... (Sigh. Just tried to post a picture. Now I have to make an account and give up my personal information. Ugh. I hate that. Will think about whether I'm ready to go all in. Maybe if the eggs hatch.)

Nothing yet! So frustrated. I'll wait at least until Thursday, but I after that I think I can safely assume she dropped them somewhere else.

VERY helpful, Rawrgeous. Thank you! I'm feeling more optimistic this afternoon.
Garbo has been very restless, pacing back and forth to the water pools. Her
Behavior is definitely unusual. Gives me hope. And my mantra today is Pleasehitthepool.
Pleasehitthepool.

I'm so nervous and excited!
I would like to see pictures of your kreisel setup too, I'm thinking about maybe trying out breeding when I'm older and have room and time to do so...

Still restlessly pacing back and forth to the saltwater pool.

And the crab is, too.
