Hello! I will be picking up 3 hermit crabs tomorrow. I haven't cared for hermit crabs yet, however, I have done lots and lots of research on them. I'm super excited but also a little nervous. I will be traveling a little over two hours to bring them home. They are coming with their entire tank and supplies. I have a few questions if someone would like to take the time to answer them I would really appreciate it.
1. How can I keep them stress free while traveling?
2. Where is the best place to buy good shells?
3. Should I be feeding the same veggies and fruits she has been?
4. Should the tank be placed in a certain spot in the room? (ex. away from doors or windows)
5.They are in a 40 gallon tank. Later on down the road could I add a few more crabs to the tank? If so how many?
If you have any other important information or good products please let me know. Thank you in advance!!

Welcome to crabbing!

1. How can I keep them stress free while traveling?
Curly - many people will use a small container with some moss or something to keep the humidity up while travelling home. I presume it's summer where you are, so you won't have to worry about heat, just be sure to vent the container a few times during the drive so it doesn't get too hot.
2. Where is the best place to buy good shells?
Curly - Check out MotorCrab's fabulous shopping guide:

3. Should I be feeding the same veggies and fruits she has been?
Curly - Unlike some pets, you don't have to have a gradual change to new foods. So just have a look at the nutrition guide and give a balanced diet right from the start.

4. Should the tank be placed in a certain spot in the room? (ex. away from doors or windows)
Curly - Indirect light is best, so not where the sun will hit it.
5.They are in a 40 gallon tank. Later on down the road could I add a few more crabs to the tank? If so how many?
Curly - Depending on the size of the crabs, you probably can add more. Check out the tank size/ crab size/ numer guide:
