What is my crab doing?

Post by dvrkfvwn » Sun May 12, 2019 1:42 am

So one of my crabs came out of his coconut hide a few hours ago and climbed up the piece of wood I have propped up in the tank, it’s his favorite spot. He’s been sitting in the same place and hiding halfway in his shell, hiding his eyes and antennas.. I’ve never really seen him do this before except for when he goes to the very top of the wood facing away from the front of the tank. Is he just sleeping? Or is it a sign of acting lethargic? Usually he peaks out around this time and walks around.

My crab Peach does that where you can only see part of their legs and they stay like that for a while. I think it is sleeping because she mostly does it in the day and sometimes at night.
I have had pets in the past, but my family can’t have any furry or feathered ones due to allergies. I usually try my best to help and currently trying to set up a crabitat. I also try to treat others with Love!❤️

No, crabs come further out of their shells to groom, and you'll see their tiny legs in the back moving around, this crab is just sleeping.

Hahaha, that's cute! Like when you try to put your cap down really low and have a little nap without anyone noticing1

He was definitely just sleeping! He’s been walking around fine, he sleeps in his coconut by day and climbs the wood by night, it’s his routine now haha.
