Edit: Will the noise from the pump bother them? I noticed it isn't very quiet lol

Thanks! I'm constantly thinking about how I can make it better but I don't ever really know what to do so I really appreciate the gestureBigglesLeCrab wrote:That looks very cool

The pump is on the floor behind the tank but I feel like the sound of it travels through the tubes, creating noise inside the tank. I can hear it more when the lid is open hahaDragonsFly wrote:Re: pump noise.
The noise is outside the tank (you do have the air pump outside the tank, right?), so it is less likely to bother them than you. To reduce the noise, putting the pump on a rubber "mouse pad" (if you still have such a thing) can really help to reduce the vibration of the pump. If you don't have a mouse pad, a folded towel under it can do the same thing; just make sure that it is still able to draw air cleanly (you don't want it on such a fluffy towel that it smothers the air intakes). That's why mouse pads are perfect. Also, just making sure that no cords or tubing are touching the pump or anything else that they may be vibrating against can help.
Also--for whoever else is considering bubble pools--remember that you need only the SMALLEST possible air pump for bubble pools, and smaller pumps tend to be quieter, too (all else being equal). I've read that there are some air pump brands that are quieter-running than others, but our PetCo only has one brand, so I don't have any experience comparing across brands. I do know that my smaller pumps are quieter (less likely to cause noisy vibration) than the bigger ones, of the same brand.
I'm gonna have to buy an extension cord.. lolDragonsFly wrote:Well, the bubbling water itself makes some noise, but then again, so does the ocean. I do put mine on a timer so that it doesn't run all the time--mostly because I don't need it to run constantly in order to keep humidity between 75 and 85%, but also in case any of the crabs would prefer the water not be bubbly on occasion.
