They do not eat the pothos. If you basically protect the main root from their digging it up, the only problem I had was that eventually (in the 55g) it was kind of taking over! I had a couple of ferns for awhile that they also did not seem to want to eat, but again, the ferns eventually browned out and died.

What about small (no thorns!!) cactus? Aloe maybe (it's not the common, I don't remember it's name, but its spineless and smaller? I found a pothos I like, but I still have one planter

Cacti and aloe are both made for very dry environments, not high humidity, as well as preferring a good bit of sun, so I doubt they would like it in the crab tank. Also, there is some concern with aloe that it might be toxic (at least, it used to be on the "no-no" list; I don't know if it still is).

You might find that the pothos you have that appears to be one plant is really several. The one I bought this past winter and have been allowing to cycle out any pesticides for the past couple of months was actually three plants in one pot, so when I washed all the soil off the roots, I separated them, and now I have them in three different pots, each with a different kind of "root protector" over them. I'll put them all in the 90g (as soon as Major Tom comes up. . . coming up on a year underground, for him, now. . . ) and see how the different "root protection" strategies hold up.

Thats a good thing then xD ill just go with the one pothos then, I dont have a lot of room (def more than the ten gallon) and still only have two planters :P thank you dragonsfly ^^
