using the zoo med hygro/temp controler

Post by Crabcakes57 » Thu Jun 09, 2016 12:08 am

To begin with I have two tats, one is a ten gallon with three I do believe molting crabs, and a 20 long that has 5 crabs in it. I am running a humidifer that I split between the two tanks. I am getting the zoo med hygro/temp controler to control the humidty in the two tanks, of course the ten gallon tank does not have the same humidty and temp that the 20 has, so which tank would you place the probes in I would like to run the controler so that the humidty stays between 75-85 in both tanks. I was thinking of running two external red heat lights to help keep the heat around 75-80 I do have a heat pad which were purchased form the bean farm on the back of both tanks, but the temp will drop below 75 at night, I plan on placing a piece of ridgid insulation board to the back of the tank to help with the heat also. Any suggestions and advice are welcome.
Thanks

This turned out to be a piece of junk. Calibrated it and it was anywhere from 8% to 14% off can not use it. Will be sending it back. Ended up going back to my timer, running the humidifer for 15 minutes every 15 minutes during the day just to keep my humidty up.

Talked to Zoo Med and they are sending out a new sensor chip for the probe should be here by the end of the week or earlier. If that does not fix the problem they will send me a new one. I am using it in conjunction with a digital hygrometer keeping my humidty between 80-90% depending on how high l have the humidifier set.

Let me know if the new chip fixes the issue. With multiple tanks and more to come, I'd like to have something set up to monitor all the tanks on one device.

Thanks!

I think it was just bad luck that I got a bad one. Most of the reviews are good that's one reason I got it. Ideally it's set up for only one tank, if you had two tanks that were set up identically then it might work better. As it sits right now my ten gallon tank has higher humidty than the twenty does. Will update when I get the new chip.
