The water dishes are containers we originally got to keep fresh fruits & veggies in. Image The bit on the left fits inside the bowl on the right-- makes replacing their water a thousand times easier because we can just lift the pebbles out then dump the old yucky water. Image
that's a great idea! Easier is always better- especially when it comes to changing pool water, my least favorite thing to do!

my pools? One of my tanks (56g) has large Tupperware pools with sea shells siliconed on the bottom with a mesh ramp to exit. I use two Tupperware containers stacked on eachother for each pool. This is so I can pull out the top one that holds the water, and the second one stays put in the sand. It is just easier for removing them and putting them back in. It has also helped in the past when I spill water, it usually lands inside the second pool, so I just wiped it up with a paper towel.

My 55g has different pools and they are a mix between a Tupperware container and a large deep crayon box. Those ones have rocks in them, that are not siliconed down, and craft mesh ramps. I just rinse the rocks each time I dump, clean and refill each pool.

My 125g has filtered pools made from kritter keepers. I know some people have had issues with KK cracking, but I haven't as of yet. I also have a false bottom so that gives me some comfort. Those have plexi glass rock slops to get in and out of the pools. I have some fish ornaments siliconed to the bottom, and have shells and crushed coral also on the bottom of each pool.

Boomer was hilarious last night. All evening he was walking along the pools and crawling from filter top to filter top. He also tried climbing up the glass and fell in the pool. I laughed. :D

Almost there...

Oh my gosh! The one of him submerged is too funny, you can tell he's just like "Well crap. I mean. I meant to do that. I'm dignified, that was a dive, not a fall." Lol

lol exactly! and then he went right back to the same spot and tried the same thing over again. He is one determined crab! Almost every time I look at the tank, he is at the pools. None of my other crabs are there nearly as much as him. He thinks he is a fish :fish:

haha thanks! I would LOVE to set up tanks for people. Honestly, that is one of my favorite parts of owning crabs, setting up their homes and re-decorating them from time to time. There is so much space in a bare tank just waiting to be made into something special. All of my pools are Tupperware, other than the large filtered pools in my 125g. However, I am on my 3rd filter in the salt water pool and if this one goes out, then I am removing the large pools and adding in Tupperware pools with bubblers. Glad you like the tank/pics :)

That's my work in progress ;)
I am a little nervous now though...
My biggest and newest crab is out every morning at the salt water pool (right side). He is just sitting on the piece of cholla close to the water but doesn't Seem to be filling or drinking... They were switched from the small reptile dishes to these. Do you think they'll be fine with this? Like they won't starve their bodies of water in fear of falling in? I know that sounds ridiculous cause they are crabs but...

they will be fine! When they need water, they will get it. Your tank looks good! A lot better than my first tank, haha! I love the cork round going up to the shell shop, very clever. You could add some fake plants from the dollar store or some vines along the walls, you have a lot of space in the middle back that would be perfect for that! Or add another moss pit with some cholla or Mopani leading up too it. Just thoughts ;)

How is your heat with that pad? I had one like that on my first tank and it didn't really do anything. I switched to the UTH from Reptile basics on all my tanks. I get them large enough to cover the entire back above the sub.

I maintain a constant 80/80... However im not going to take credit for it lol! I only put the heater there to feel better! Im in jax fl, drenching wet when u walk outside and hoooot here. I had a 36 inch but the temp went through the roof (while setting up of course). So i packed it away in case winter comes and changes everything :)
Yes, I love how you have so much foilage im going to add more pieces in due time! Im also gonna give chia seeds a go.
My next expensive project... I am going to by the cork tiles to go along the entire back side of the tank! Then add greenery of course ;)
