Food during molts?

Post by Kermie16 » Sat Jun 18, 2016 9:09 pm

2 out of 3 of my hermies have been molting since the beginning of June and our third one has started a lot of digging and we expect she will also be going down for her second molt with us soon. What do I do for food if all of the hermies are molting at the same time? Just leave out a dish of dry foods? I would hate it if one popped up and there wasn't much to eat. At the same time, I don't want to be throwing out untouched food.

Maybe put some all natural peanut butter and honey in an eggshell next to the heater so it doesn't get funky. Just a small amount. You may not see a crab again for a couple of months, if they're new.

Dry foods work great for this time when no one seems to be up. They last longer, so you waste less. But yes, definitely like you said you want a little food available for when they resurface.

Both of my hermies are down currently. I am keeping a little dry food out as one has been down 4 weeks longer than the other. I want to be ready for when he/she comes up!!
