How cute is that?! It's great to see that so many people's crabs are using the hamster wheels. I'd like to install my ham's old wheel in the tank once her new one comes but the only place to put it would be over the pools...maybe they could work out on the wheel, get their laps in, and then go for a swim to cool off  .
PPs are Big Enzo, Charles Paris and Mr Pinch
On the Big Beach in the Sky: Murray, Gino, Oscar, Gordon, Ignatz, Harry and King Felix the Pale
Also Mom to Imogene the Syrian Hamster

Very cool! What wheel did you purchase? I didn't have a choice in not modifying mine. I have extra large and jumbo crabs. They need the width! So glad to see another hermit enjoying the wheel! Perhaps we should talk to pet stores about them!

Yes purple pincher, this guy I just adopted a few weeks ago. He pulled a surface molt but I went through with the adoption anyway, after 3-4 days he ate the exo and was moving around in the ISO. I dropped him in the main tank and he's been running a muck ever since! Lol

I'm actually wondering if my biggest will fit in the wheel because it's small. This is the one I bought Image
So far I have one seen this hermit taking interest in using it, but if the others take to it than I was considering getting one of the flat saucer wheels which would benefit the big guy better.

Funny you mention talking to pet stores about them, when purchasing this one The cashier asked if I had a hamster or mice or whatever, I said no this is actually for my hermit crabs. At first she laughed and then realized I was serious Image she asked some questions about hermits, and was genuinely interested in learning more and especially wanted to find a video of a hermit on a wheel lol.
Love the look on people's faces when you say "this is for my crabs" ImageImage

Did you get that from a chain? If so, which one? Thanks! I have two already.

so glad you tried that type of wheel. id been looking at them at work thinking they mght work un-changed for my four. also we have these old ones not for sale where i work that look just like craft mesh. we dont sell them since rodents feet/toes can get hurt slipping threw the opening....i think it would be safe for my crabs. getting the exact same one you have shown tomorrow and if they like it maybe trying the one i mentioned.

(only thinking of trying the older style since my biggest is molting and might need more space or me to change the original wheel when she comes up)

(i work for a local pet/garden supply store)
