it's a cruddy pic but it's normal saline 0.09% sodium chloride. I keep reading that people use saline just don't know what kind

I'm not sure where you are getting that information, but it cannot possibly be from the HCA. Normal Saline is sodium chloride. Depending on the form it comes it can be used as iv/sq fluids, clean wounds, used for contact lenses, etc. I would NOT use it for the hermit crabs. They need marine salt water.

I've read a few posts where people talked about it. wasn't sure if that's the type of stuff they where talking about my mom asked me about it (she got crab addicted when I introduced mine to her)

Even though marine salt is sodium chloride - a very in depth study about water and dissolution of chemicals and how they "bond" during my final year - it also contains many key elements - some like iodine, is believed to be beneficial for the crabs for moulting.
Your looking to buy marine salt thats made for/designed to keep marine fish species - or just a marine fish tank - in general. A popular choice is to use instant ocean in the USA.
