o ok lol sorry. I started a hermit rescue and crab care and learning center. it's just in the beginning stages now and I'd like to get more pics of crabs for. the face book page I'm working on called (save the crab). right now all but one of my crabs are under and I mostly have Eccie's and would love to show more than just one breed. my husband got my kids some for christmas and well I fell in love with them and after doing a lot of resurch I found the pet store dident give me any good info on crabs at all. I know its a long shot but I want to do my part in teaching people the right info. granted I'm still learning my self.

Hello! Great quality pictures! @TheLayla420 - I recommend that you get deeper pools. They need to be able to fully submerge
Edit: Also, I noticed that you have a sponge in your tank. Sponges are fine if they are natural sea sponges, and are kept dry for them to munch on. It is not recommended for them to be left in the water. They can harbor bacteria. That is really an old practice that is not used anymore. Also, if your plant is live, please make sure that it is on the safe list. I'm not familiar with it. Just looking out for you!

My tiny little guy doesn't even get into the pools,he sits on the edge and drinks ,doesn't even bother with the sea sponge,if you read through the articles on this website,they even tell you all hermits are different,some don't even like to submerge,check it. Maybe you will learn something

Minor caveat: breeds are a function of selective breeding by humans, and no land hermits are extensively bread by people.. you should use the term species instead.

If that isnt clear, here's an example: dog breeds all belong to the same species, Canis lupus. 'Canis' is the genus (and is capitalised), and 'lupus' (not capitslised) is the species name.

Coenobita is of course the genus that all small land hermit crabs belong to, while clypeatus (the purple pincher) is the species that I have my tank.

The term 'coenobitids' refers to the family that Coenobita & also the genus Birgus belong to. (Birgus is the genus of the coconut crab - the world's biggest terrestrial arthropod, and a heck of a crazy animal! There is only one species, 'latro', in the Birgus genus.) I fully advocate showing people pictures of coconut crabs when teaching about land hermits... because I like the reaction.

that's quite ok. I still have to finish with it. I'll make sure to put what they are I've been working on this all by my self. the page that is its nice to have feed back .

i also found out that hermits will and can eat any plant that isn't carnivorous,don't know if that includes all plants period,but the book I have says that they love air plants mostly and spider plants,the variegated green and white
