Upstairs sub?
Re: Upstairs sub?
Ok so Kips tank [ASTONISHED FACE][ASTONISHED FACE][SMILING FACE WITH HEART-SHAPED EYES] now that's something to make a crab lover dream.

I was thinking the exact same thing. Definitely not sand!aussieJJDude wrote:However, using it as a moss pit could work as moss is quite light in comparison.... Even EE at low levels could work well, but I wouldn't say sand would work well, especially when wet.

Re: Upstairs sub?
We are prepping to move in about 2 weeks. I'm thinking of redoing my tat after our move and using the 20g as a topper upside down on my 55g as PinchersandShells drew for me
Any thoughts on if using 3M Velcro strips all round would be safe enough to keep them together and avoid any hermies escaping?

I'm using velcro strip on the lid of my tote tat and so far Luis hasn't managed to escape. Though she's been more subdued since moving to the new space - maybe just getting used to it still.

Perfect! Thanks LadyJinglyJones:) I initially thought about taking the bottom glass of the 20g out but I think if I did that it wouldn't make much of a difference. I would still not be able to get in from the top of the tank once it's built up because it would be too high for me. So, I'm just gonna try flipping it over upside down and Velcro strip it all around the edges. Trying to decorate it upside down should be interesting though! Lol

That is really neat! How do you get in there yourself? Haha I'd be a pretzel trying to do so myself!Visual wrote:![]()
Here's my second level for now.... I know the interior is difficult to make out but the upstairs is mainly a small plastic fish tank that I've covered with a plastic plant as well as a live bamboo plant hopefully for climbing. In the tank I keep adittional fresh h2o. I know the sub isn't too deep but it's also not very wide. The bottom tank is a 20 or 25 and the top is a 10. I love the look and I love that it provides extra play place. My reservations though... the tank is duck taped down to its base. All the extra openings created by the off kilter setup is covered by plexiglass also duct taped down. The top tank I turned upside down so it's now really difficult to get back in there to rearrange and refill the water. Most of my crabs are down now but my first up Sheldon the shy loves it. The Chola branch wired to a chicken wire platform covered in coconut fiber is their access to the upper level.

Depending on space you could put up a shelf put tank on that have tubes going up and down you can put vines in the tubes to help them

Oh yes, it is the hardest. I just use a small spray bottle to mist in their. All the food and regular water I keep below where it's open. I'm actually gathering supplies now to transform that whole book shelf into a crabitat.Giner13 wrote:That is really neat! How do you get in there yourself?
