I think that I have finally named my crab room!

This is where you discuss the conditions of your crabitat -- temperature, humidity, substrate, decorating, etc.

I think that I have finally named my crab room!

Post by GotButterflies » Fri May 12, 2017 1:27 pm

Okay...so this took me some time...but I have settled with Searenity. (Play on words for serenity). I have the 100g, the 75g, and now a 55g that I have recently set up. I'm waiting for two long pieces of cholla that I ordered off of ebay to come in. (That I already have no room for!) Still need to modify the hamster wheel for that crabitat as well. Going to have to add a topper to the 55 gallon for sure.

I wish I had a crab room... I barely have a crab dresser. :)

Do you plan to share tank pics or build pics for your setting up of the 55 gallon and/or the topper? I'd love to see them! :)

Searenity... that sounds so peaceful...
4PPs and tons of FUN in a 29 gallon!

I would do very bad things to be able to devote an entire room to tanks (for a variety of things, really).

Love the name though! How many hamster wheels are you up to now??

It's really amazing how the room has transformed over the last 20 years. It was first my stepdaughter's room...then it became a Lego/crab room...now it's my room to do what I wish with it. It has the three crabitats and a snake tank. If only I could have made arrangements to get that 500gallon tank on Tuesday! Guy wanted it gone in 1 hour...It was perfect, but I didn't have the manpower or a truck for it, and it was an hour away. Husband even said I could too. It just wasn't meant to be.

I have the three wheels still. This one will make 4 :) I have all of the materials bought to put it together, just need to do it! :)

Pictures will come soon! I promise! Cholla is supposed to come by Wednesday I think.

Wow! I think I would have found a way to get that tank. That would be my dream tank!! But maybe it was meant for someone else ;)

I think I'm done upgrading for a while! I went from a 10G to a 55G then to a 90G after we bought a house. I added the 120G bamboo tank for the clan I adopted in February. Then I upgraded the 90G to a 125G with a 40B topper. My husband wants bearded dragons eventually. So they'll have the 90G once my molters come up.

If you have three tanks dedicated to hermies... How many do you have? I know you have some straws, some e's, and some pp's but I can't remember you stating how many other than the tanks themselves.

I downsized to one tank, but am about to have 2 straws so I'll probably end up with one large one. .
The "it's complicated" boy picked up several large tanks from a storage unit for a friend last weekend or so and is going to see if he can't get me one of those. If I get a 125 or larger I will just stick with that.

I have a total of four tanks set up in that room. Three crabitats - 100g, 75g, 55g. The fourth tank (a 55g) houses a 9 maybe 10 year old male Ball Python. I have a 40g fish tank upstairs that houses a 21 year old female Blood Parrot fish. She is alone. In her lifetime she has killed 2 males. I used to have a tire track eel, but he passed due to old age.

That 500g was a dream tank for me! Believe me - I tried to make it work. Nobody was available. I even considered renting a Uhaul - but I didn't have manpower to move the tank. :( One of these days I'll have something like that! They said it was 8ft long and 4ft wide.

How many crabs do I have? :anon: Should I admit that? LOL!! I have too many. I have 16 pps, 4 straws, 6 es, and 2 lilas. I really have 4 lilas in my possession, but 2 of them belong to my friend. I've had them since the middle of April. My friends haven't been able to come get them yet. I love my crabs, :cloud9: and I'm always looking for larger tanks. Drives my husband nuts because I already have a collection of tanks to get rid of.

So I haven't repainted the room since I decorated it for my stepdaughter years ago, and it's not going to happen now either with all these heavy tanks! If you look close you can see a Pipevine Swallowtail caterpillar hanging at the bottom left hand side of the valance. I brought it in bc it's raining outside.
