I read this Post right before going to sleep and then I had a really vivid dream about a hermit crab with a big gel limb lol
My crabbos are having a crab party right now. I don't know what it is but they have been super active lately, out and about all the time. Maybe I finally nailed the conditions or maybe everyone's just finally starting to settle in enough to be comfortable. Anyways, it's awesome to get to see my crew more
What a dream!!!

I'm so excited! I've only had them about 3 months so I'm still new. A couple weeks ago, Stryper changed shells. Then I noticed Paras's shell was empty. Lol. He had been under for a few weeks so I'm very glad he's alive. Lol. He changed into Stryper's original shell. I have 5 hermit crabs. When they all start changing shells I'll lose track of who's who.

My daughter named the first 3. Shelder, Paras and Derek. From pokeman. At least the 1st 2 names. I'm clueless about parasect. Lol. Is that from pokeman too?

Yes it's a Pokémon. Parasect is the evolution of paras. It's like a jumbo paras lol. There are 2 other poke' crabs that I know of too, Krabby, and Krabbys evolution kingler.

So it looks like Shelder changed into Paras's old shell. I'm surprised because it was pretty much the same size. I had left it in the tank in case Paras wanted it back. So far I still know who's who. I think.

Stryper loves the moss pits. I have found him a couple of times buried in the moss. And tonight he climbed for the first time (that I know of) into the shell shop on the second floor. It is the 2nd moss pit.

added some new shells last night to the tat before going to bed. heard the crabs all night clanking the shells around (their tat is in my bedroom), but come morning, no one took a new shell. guess they were all just (noisily) window shopping the shells haha!

I think of changing out the available shells as environmental enrichment. Even if they're not in the market for a new shell, they do enjoy investigating the options.

I got some new jade turbos the other day. So I found an occupied new shell in the moss pit. So excited they like the new shells. I thought it was Paras because Stryper was still in the orange striped shell. But I couldn't find his discarded shell. This morning I find the "discarded" shell with him in it. Then I saw the jade shell in the other moss pit. So happy someone discovered it finally. Then I was excited because it seemed like a 3rd one that had been buried came up. But I didn't know who. I showed my daughter (home from college) that the orange striped shell is in his usual spot. She picked him up and said, mom, there's no one in here. I double checked of course. So, Stryper changed into the jade shell apparently and I still only have 2 above ground. I'm so confused.
But glad there's activity.

Three of the crabs are packed into the hanging coconut moss hide every day... I
really need to free up space on my phone for pics. (And make more coconut hides, as it's turned into such a hot spot.
