I have algae growing against the glass on the back (warmest side) of my tank. Sub is 10-12" deep, and algae visible along most of it.
Should I do anything? Churn it up? My crabs are all recently molted (except summer adoption who is up and running around nightly). The big guys have been tunneling like crazy.
Temp is 77-82 depending on area, humidity 80-90. Sub play sand and ee mix, dampened initially with dilute IO SW, sand castle consistency. Moss level helps maintain humidity. 40B tank. Currently 3 crabs, 1 small, 2 large/jumbo (#4 in ISO since mid-october). No foul odor, no insects.
Thanks.

Re: Algae in tank
I would just leave it, its really not harmful to the crabs.

Re: Algae in tank
I had algae growing in one of my tanks for a little over 3 years before I had to empty it to move it. It's a sign of moisture and light, and it doesn't harm the crabs. Just keep an eye on it to make sure the sub isn't too damp, as it can rarely signal a flood.

Thanks. Just had to empty and move my tank in October. No flood or bacterial bloom. But my humidity stays pretty constant around 90%.

What else could it be? It's green. Nothing stinks. It's heavier on the more humid side of the tank.Lewisthecrab wrote:Are you sure it's algae???
