Flies and Larvae?!!
So this happened around this time last year, but flies are infesting my hermit crab tote. Everyday there’s at least 1 or 2 and today I found larvae! I only use dried food from Hermie’s Kitchen so I don’t think it’s that, especially since this happened around this time last years. And suggestions?? I don’t want them to hurt the crabs

I read that you might have to take everything out, and clean it.
Where are the larval flies? You might be able to just pick them out, but if they have other eggs, you'll need to remove the substrate, and clean it.
I am not an expert on bugs, someone else can definitely tell you more than I can.
The only bugs I have in my tats are dwarf isopods, which do me good.

Are we talking full-sized houseflies? Are they black, blue or green, as that can help narrow down what is attracting them. Where are the maggots being found in the tank - the food dish, under the water bowls etc?

So my mom hasn’t seen flies since we put vinegar traps. They are little black bugs that fly. Don’t look green though and the maggots were under their coconut hut. I’m sorry i don’t have more pics! My mom is gonna set up more traps and see if she can get pics of the dead oneswodesorel wrote:Are we talking full-sized houseflies? If the vinegar traps are getting them they are fruit flies, probably coming in on fresh fruit or onions or potatoes. It only takes a single pregnant female! They likely went after food the crabs dragged off and hid.
