I went outside for once and guess what? I got a new baby. His name is Geronimo and he's exploring his new surroundings. I remembered why I stopped leaving the houseImageImage

Shell changes

Post by Hermiesguardian » Sun Jun 03, 2018 11:44 pm

I read on a recent thread that rinsing shells in saltwater to clean them, might garner more interest than if they are rinsed in freshwater. So I tried that. Wow! First, Ninja Crab as you may know him from his hilarious videos, changed out of his heavy "ridgy" shell. I'm glad because I think that's why he kept tumbling backwards. However, he chose a really large shell that I think is too big on him. I was sure he was going to change back. But...the other crab changed into the ridgy shell. I thought, first, uh oh. Ninja's gonna want that back. Second, he's not gonna like it, it's too heavy. It's been about an hour and they are still both in their new shells. We'll see.

I had my large come back from a molt yesterday, which led to me being able to move the tank somewhere else, and redesign it how I had been wanting :)
My seven crabs would have had limited space, so I took one driftwood out, and replaced it with a cork cylinder, wow they really love that!

Meeting of the minds?
All 4 on the 2nd level. Well, not all. 2 are still buried.
It's hard to see them individually.ImageImage

So, you have six crabs?
Is that a contact lense holder for a food dish?

Yes, 6 crabs. And yes, a contact lens holder. I started using them to freeze baby food for them. So now I put peanut butter in it. Works nice.

I don't remember if I posted this already but here it is. Sometimes they can be so rude.

Haha I had a feeling that would happen! Funny to see the little push and shove arguments they get into sometimes :)

I know this is really long but the 1st 3,4 minutes can be fast fowarded. I put in new shells today and there was a lot of interest.

I have four crabs. Slater which is mine, Princess Bubblegum which is my youngest daughter, Mad Dog which is my oldest daughters, and Emmett which is my moms. They are burrowed. Is that normal for them all to be burrowed?

Yes. Folks here call it "pet sand'. Just resist the urge to go looking for them. They may be coming up at night to eat.
