Most on here talk highly about Ultratherm... some have also had success with flukers, so that may be something to look into if needed?

I know others like Ultratherm. I have a big preference for Flukers instead.

I never tried the Flukers before but I like our ultratherm's over the Zoo Meds you can buy everywhere.

Wodesorel, any reason you much prefer Flukers? Are they stronger?
Re: UTH brands recommended?
I ended up getting a UTH from Reptile Basics...the Vivarium Heating Mat. I have it insulated and it’s maintaining a good temperature.

Re: UTH brands recommended?
In my experiances, they've maintained proper heat better. I splurged on two ultratherms that would have cooked my tank had I used them, and I don't want to have to buy and use a thermostat. The Flukers have always been plug and play for me to a perfect 80, and they have no trouble raising the tank 20-some degrees in winter. I do use pads that cover the entire back though!CrabHappens wrote:Wodesorel, any reason you much prefer Flukers? Are they stronger?

Thank you, I am looking to upgrade from my not so good zoomed, nights are starting to get cold here. I would prefer not to have to use a thermostat also.

I have two from www.reptilebasics.com - and I love them. I have one from www.beanfarm.com - and it works good, but I don't care for the way that it looks
LOL. I'm not sure where you can purchase the Fluker's name brand.

Re: UTH brands recommended?
I got the majority from Petco as clearance items, but my local pet stores carries all the sizes as well. Some of the online shops have various sizes, I see them on Chewy sometimes. I have at least 14 in various sizes between the reptiles and the hermits, still using some hand-me-down Zoomeds on some of the geckos. (They do tend to work well for reptiles!)

Re: UTH brands recommended?
Can they both be reused? I will be upgrading to a larger tank, but that could be several months possibly.. maybe even after winter.

As long as they are in good condition and your careful with taking it off - and to a degree, applying elsewhere - yes they can be reused.CrabHappens wrote:Can they both be reused? I will be upgrading to a larger tank, but that could be several months possibly.. maybe even after winter.
