I noticed my crabs LOVE chinese broccoli leaves https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gai_lan, way more than spinach, romaine lettuce, and other leafy greens. Within minutes of putting it out they all start munching. I recommend others try giving it to their crabs!

Oh hai! I love using those little glass flip-top jars too! They are so great for home made mixes because they hold as much as my coffee grinder will make in a batch.

Also, Happyhermiehome, as a fellow mum's roses theif, salut! I tried several different bushes, since they smelled different ... never noticed a preference, but I liked the very red ones. Now it's winter I'm offering hips & dried leaves. :)

Tonight we have quail eggs:

Partner: oh, did you get eggs?
Me: I got quail eggs! Look! So speckled-ey!
Partner : ugh, I don't like quail eggs.
Me: oh why, is it the weird creamy texture? Like they're thicker or something, right?
Partner: yeah.
Me: I know... so gross.
Partner: wait, why did you get them then?
Me: they're smaller, and I thought-
Partner : OH FOR THE LOVE OF -! THE CRABS CAN EAT NORMAL EGGS.
:hlol: :hlol: I've had those conversations too!! :hlol:

In kidney shaped dishes organic: salmon, shrimp, mussels, red lentils, quinoa, dark red kidney beans, eggshells
Fruit and flowers mix, organic: calendula petals, roships, color enhancing mix from hermies kitchen, coconut shavings, dried blueberries, strawberries, pineapple
Flower shaped dish, organic: fresh spinach, fresh blueberry, fresh blackberry, fresh mushroom, oak and seagrape leaves, organic peanut butter powder, more coconut shaving

They love it all. I have many crabs, and it seems they all have different favorites. So I feed as much variety as possible. :) They fight for the food dishes! This isn't even half of it; not even close. And I have to go through and dig up any meat they hide, which is too often! I have cut back on the shrimp for now because it seems, oddly, that it attracts fruit flies worse than anything else. :\ ImageImageImage

Last night the crabs got foods from The Hermit Crab Patch! I ordered two new foods, it came with a sample, so I decided to give them some of that as well as use an older sample they gave me from the last time I ordered from them. I also put in some veggies as well.

Trying out silversides tonight! I have a feeling they will like them. I also have another bowl with mealworms, crickets, seaweed, elderberry, poppy seeds, and egg shell!

I give my guys dried anchovy, no salt, and they love it! Also canned sardines are a hit usually, I bet yours will love it. Where did you get those, if you don't mind me asking?

They are Hikari brand silversides, I found them in the frozen fish food section of my local Pet Valu. :)

Any Italian groceries nearby? Or good fish counters? The fresh smelts and sometimes anchovies and sardines will be in during late December for the Feast of the Seven Fishes. I always stock up and freeze some for the hermits for the year. Super cheap and they don't need a lot!
