Stole the green sand

Stole the green sand

So I fed green sand for just the second time. Since they fought over the shell last time I figured I'd put in more. I put in a small shell and a contact lens holder. The shell and the lens holder are GONE! They must have buried them because I can't see them at all. Wow. So anyone out there, they love green sand.

Raising daughter's hermit crabs, Shelder, Paras and Derek. Added 2 more of my own (of course) Pete and Stryper. Former mommy to 2 guinea pigs and beloved cat, Nissi

That is funny!! My one crab who is up isn’t overly interested in mine. He crawls all through it and stops for a second but not for long. 🤷🏼‍♀️

I stole this from another post:

Greensand comes off of the ocean floor. It is packed full of nutrients. The crabs LOVE it. I keep it in my tanks at all times. It is actually a mineral called Glauconite.

Oh okay! Do you go out and just get sand from the ocean or do you order it?

Awesome! Thank you so much! Our first hermit crab started out as a birthday gift (from a friend) for my 4 year old and has QUICKLY become an obsession of mine!! I swear I'm researching every day on how to make their life better! Lol!

Greensand is a definite favorite, I offer some with almost every feeding, as well as worm castings- their second favorite love! These are also easy to find and order if you don’t have some yet. It’s like they can never get enough!

Is this it? Espoma Greensand Soil Conditioner? They make organic too....

I always keep a dish of greensand in each of my crabitats - it is a crab favorite! :)
