Heard back from Hermit Crab Patch for shell help:

They told me that I need at minimum 2 shells per crab. And gave me two options:

Option #1- 1 natural and 1 polished shell for Happy and 1 natural and 1 polished shell for Bashful. One would be a size they could wear now and the other is the next size up. So I would get 2 for Happy and 2 for Bashful. So, that be 4 shells for 8.00.
OR
Option #2- They can double it so Happy and Bashful would each get 2 shells for now and 2 the next size up and that be 15.00.

I plan to order the shells with the sample variety pack. 5.75. With both add on (+4.00) Powdered coral calcium (honey)- 3.10 and Calipers (7.25) All that already is 40.85 Before tax (and shipping?)

Decided I would try grapes and raspberry’s for Happy and Bashful. I’ve showed them to Happy after moving him from the crappy place he’s been sitting all day. Half under food dish and branch. He ran for the hut.

I think my new crabs are doing well-- I haven't seen my really tiny crab (Bashful) since I took that photo (Tuesday night) of them stuffing their faces. Happy just buried themselves down this after noon when I went into the tank to change water in their pools and change their food (pellets, omnivore mix, grasshoppers, calcium and hermit crab fruit salad. They did not touch the raspberries and grapes I had put in their dish last night--I got myself in trouble by my mom and sister for "wasting food on my crabs". So, I cannot give more fresh-human food till after coronavirus gets stopped. So, they will only be getting freeze dried food: Zilla Fruit Mix: Apples, Bananas, Strawberries, Peaches, Pears, Mangos and Blueberries. Zilla Omnivore Mix: Bok Choy, Zucchini, Green Beans, Peas, Bananas, Carrots, Crickets, Mealworms and Silkworms Zilla Small Animal: Bok Choy, Carrots, Zucchini, Green Beans, Peas, Apples, Bananas, Strawberries, Peaches, Pears, Mango and Blueberries. Fluker freeze dried diets: Mealworms, Grasshoppers, Crickets, Solider Worms and River Shrimp. Zoo Med: Red Shrimp, Apples, Cranberries and Mango ( Hermit Crab fruit salad) and Hermit Crab peanut crunchies. As well as Thrive and Zoo Med Pellets that I will using up till gone then I'll be ordering from Hermit Crab Patch ( Going to get the Sample Variety pack with both addons and honey coral calcium) and Hermie Kitchen (Purple Pincher pack, intro to crab food pack, 5 sample pack with pick your own option (already know which 5 I going to order), green sand and mangos).

Quick question:
Do all crabs completely pig out before molting?
How long does molting last?
Did I bring them home in a good fitting shell that they can use after molting?
How soon after molting do they need a new shell?
I've got two turbos in the tank right now. I have two more shells that I need to clean. One is I think bigger then the one that Happy is currently wearing and the other was Hermy's shell. I am reviewing the two option that Hermit crab patch gave me still. I have to be 100% sure which one I am doing cause once I tell them my option. They will "create" the product so it will be ready once I make my order. I got my hermit crabs sooner then I thought so I'll have to figure out a new date to make my order from them. I am going to wait and place my order for Hermie Kitchen when it is a free shipping time/ things go on sale.

Happy is back pigging out on the new food that’s in the dish- omnivore mix, pellets, grasshoppers, calcium and fruit salad.

No sign of Bashful. Assuming he’s molting. Hope it goes well for them and they come up again soon.

It's weird because lately my crabs have been eating everything I put out for them (usually they don't eat much at all). Any thoughts?

No idea.
Maybe they are getting ready to molt. Don’t they eat more then?

How long do hermit crabs molt for?

I’ve got a crab (bashful) that I haven’t seen since Tuesday night. My larger one (Happy) hides under sand/ under plants/hide during day and spends pretty much entire night on food dish. Has dug down under the sub last week but didn’t molt.

How soon after molting do they need new shells?

There's no way to know how long a crab will take to molt. They could be down for months. Don't dig for them. They don't always need a new shell when they're done.

Sometimes they take a new shell and then go molt or sometimes they find one when they come back up, or they’ll just change bc they find one they like better. I had a little Ecuadorian that stayed down for 30 days for her first couple molts and her last one she stayed down for 2 months. I have crabs that are 3times her size and took half the time to molt, we just never know with them, they do what they want on their own time. Lol.

Bashful went into sub sometime on 17th or early morning of 18. And is still buried

Happy just digs massive holes in the tank during day but comes up at night

Maybe Bashful can finally molt, so he's going for it :) (Pet stores usually don't have the best conditions :( ) It's awesome that you rescued them! They sound really happy :D
